I love that anything goes these days. Well almost anything goes – I’m sure there are plenty of people who would look at my outfits and think I’m bat shit crazy for wearing such things, but I live in NYC and LA where almost anything is acceptable.  Being “extra” – being over the top, a commonly used phrase at the moment that describes a lot of outfits as well as attitudes.  I like to keep the phrase to my outfits.  I’ve been having a lot of fun pairing sexy body suits with laid back track pants, bright red on red, monochromatic schemes of pink and red, fishnets layered under ripped tees and jeans, snake skin prints that remind you of Britney Bitch. A lot of the looks I’m seeing around town – especially in LA seem to be a mix of going out club looks with a I just rolled out of bed look.  It works out great for me because half the time I can’t decide if I want to go out and dance the night away or curl up on the couch and Netflix.  Problem solved – wear half and half.

Summer – how are you over already? Rosé filled days are coming to an end and thoughts of fall creep in – and with them comes the thought of detox.  I’m no newbie to detoxing, I like the challenge, the re-setting of the body and mind, a healthy kick start to a new season.  Fall is by far one of the busiest times for me, work is crazy with fashion week, rather month. Everyone returning to the city makes for a jam packed social schedule and to balance it all I know I need my house in order. I clean out my apartment, and my body.  Yes my body.  Detox is a way to find your balance, to hear and listen to what it really needs.  We live in an increasingly toxic world, especially those of us crazies that decide to live in big cities like NYC and LA – we are constantly exposed to chemicals, carcinogens, and contaminants. WE MUST TAKE CARE OF OUR BODIES, to not is just lazy, and until I find a sexy Edward Cullen Vampire to make me immortal I’m going to do my very best to live a long and active life.

Wellness-conscious cafés seem to be rapidly popping up everywhere making it super easy to find healthy grab and go options. I am one of those annoying people who have a plethora of tummy issues. I’m supposed to be dairy free, gluten free and stick to an anti inflammatory diet but let’s be real I also like to eat out and have a social life so sometimes I’m not the best at adhering to what my body needs – especially on a busy schedule.  My self control is minimal when it comes to food.  This is also why I am a huge fan of detoxing – sometimes I just need to hit the re-set button.  Call me an extremist but I also do better when I go full in to a rigorous detox then just wake up one day and say okay – I’m actually going to go grocery shopping, only buy ‘clean’ foods, and take the time to meal prep everything – HA. That will be the day I have an assistant.

I wandered into Dr. Smood somewhat by accident and was immediately blown away by all the healthy grab and go options. As I waited in line for my cashew iced matcha I leafed through one of their pamphlets and discovered they also had detox programs. The concept is simple, everything is anti-inflammatory – 80% of your diet should come from plants which is exactly why their products are 80% plant based and as nutrient dense as possible.  No dairy, no caffeine no booze -just super clean eating. They believe in the science behind food, whats going on withe the nutrients, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, proteins, enzymes, and fats. Guys it’s science! EVERYTHING is USDA certified organic, Non-GMO, Wild Crafted, Wild Caught, Hydraulic Cold Pressed Juices, without pesticides or preservatives, Non diary, no artificial sweeteners and No HPP – I mean that’s like porn to me.

The next thing I know I’m walking out the door with a week long detox program, 2 days of pre-detox, 3 days of true detox and two days of “re-entering”. Now, like I’ve said I’m no newbie to cleansing, this was hands down the best tasting detox program I’ve ever tried.  There was actually too much food during the program that I couldn’t even get through my daily menu of items.  Crazy right? Too much food on a detox?  I kid you not, I was satisfied and happily full each and every day during the program. I had more energy, less cravings and a motivation to keep eating clean – an no this is not sponsored just 100% truth.  I just hope the Dr. Smood fairy magically restocks my fridge in the middle of the night with all the goodness.

What the program looks like:

The Beginner Program – 4 juices / 1 booster / 1 smoody / 1 salad
Breakfast – 8 am: Booster No. 4 (Ginger-Lime) & Detox No. 4
Snack – 11 am: Detox No. 2
Lunch – 2 pm: Smoody No. 1
Snack – 5 pm: Detox No. 8
Dinner – 8 pm: Salad (choose a salad option)
Detox No. 9   (drink throughout the day)

“Our air, water, food and cosmetics can contain substances that are harmful. Replacing regular meals with cold-pressed juices and whole foods floods your body with healthful vitamins and nutrients, allowing it to release toxins. Our expert Dr. Etti (Ph.D) explains – “By giving our bodies and organs a welcome rest and time to replenish themselves our skin, the largest organ in the body, becomes radiant, our complexion smoother. We regain that glow we had as children. We begin the Youthing Process” – Your body will actually digest toxins and shed them through your waste. Its a physiological process called autolysis; you lose the weight of waste. It is a purging process of junk and gunk accumulated over many years of eating unhealthy foods”. – Dr. Smood

Spring time in LA doesn’t mean that much for LA natives, for this NYC habitant though it means sun on my face and hunting for pools – not that hard in LA! It means driving up the PCH with friends, music blasting and wind in my hair to get to that secret ocean cove. I’m a huge fan of weekend getaways, or even just a spontaneous escape from the city for a day to go seek new adventure. Usually these little escapes involve the beach, surfing, a pool, nature, somewhere… ANYWHERE away from all the hustle… where no one can find me. My own little mission for a top secret adventure.  If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been spending the last month in LA. It’s a city of driving and traffic but also of sunshine, water and endless wandering! I love driving, but not sitting in traffic – which is a special kind of torture. However, it makes a world of difference and comfort when you are in a luxury, cutting – edge, super techie vehicle! You can obviously imagine my excitement when Audi asked me to test drive their new 2018 Q5 SUV. Weekend Warrior status, here I come!

The Audi Q5 redefines how an SUV looks and more importantly… how it feels! Ooh la la! It’s like a James Bond watch – sexy on the outside, but filled with so much more than your expect on the inside. It looks like a sexxxy sports car, but once inside it SURPRISES with ample room for ALL of the extreme adventures in my life. Want to dive for hidden treasure? This car can hold all of your scuba gear and film equipment to document the mission. Everything about driving this vehicle felt luxurious, from it’s sleek exterior & interior to the top of the line tech meets edge-of-your seat performance. Let’s just say on day one I knew it would be hard to return on day 4.  Still hoping Audi will just surprise me with a longer or permanent loan – one can dream.

I like fast cars.  I always have.  I think in an alternate universe or a previous life I was a race car driver.  With an engine that can take you from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds the Audi Q5 leaves everyone else in my dust.  Perfect for beating that traffic out to catch the best waves, before the crowds! Don’t worry Audi – I stuck to the speed limit. One of my favorite features is the massive sunroof providing panoramic views, it almost feels like a convertible – well almost. The Audi Q5 is equipped with a virtual cockpit that lets the driver customize all information from navigation to audio, allowing for total environmental control. Having total control is so hot. It is crazy to me how smart, and tech savvy cars have become. I live in NYC most of the year so I haven’t owned a car in over 4 years – the driver assistance technologies help alert the driver to any shifts the road might have in their way – from other vehicles to traffic and more, the car practically drives itself!

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the environment, sustainability, and my contribution to this world in general.  More now than ever I feel a need to be more involved, aware, and in general more conscious.  It’s easy to get caught up with work, friends, daily life … we are all busy AF these days and sometimes it’s hard to be the 100% environmentally conscious, sustainable person I say I am or want to be.  Cue –> In the Know, an online boutique that exclusively carries environmentally and socially conscious, fashion forward pieces. Their goal is to make women feel in vogue while wearing sustainable clothing. They make leading a sustainable lifestyle easy. In the Know provides environmentally and socially friendly, chic clothing and accessories.  I fell in love with their Izola candles, made in the USA with renewable resources and last up to 60 hours of burning time!  My favorite scents are Magnolia and Jasmine, although I’ve stalked up on almost every scent – they are that damn good.

Fact – “In the Know works exclusively with designers who manufacture their collections in places where artisans earn fair wages and operate under healthy, comfortable working conditions. In addition, we research the fabrics that are used to make each of the garments we carry. The designers use the highest-quality, environmentally friendly textiles and employ low-waste techniques. Most of our clothing is made from fabrics that are recycled, organic cotton, or alpaca wool”. – In The Know
